Info about Artist

Jennifer Nowzaradan began drawing and working with paint at 12 years old. She grew up with two very creative parents from different cultural backgrounds in Houston, Tx. Inspired by the MFAH and living in a city with such resources of art history and diverse culture she grew a great passion for the arts. Her father is a surgeon from Iran who she watched sketch many finely detailed drawing and diagrams as a child. Symmetry and detail of living mechanisms had great meaning to her. Jennifer's early inspirations were trees, geometry from organic forms in Iranian art, pre-Islamic painting and anything minutely detailed such as germs and microorganisms. Jennifer's first self assigned paintings were orbs of light, saturated value scales, marine life, trees and oriental design that still remain her trademark style. She began scuba diving at the age of 14 years old and her underwater experiences fueled her desire to paint. Most of her body of work is from visions or inspirations from life. She has continued to explore them on canvas and linen with Acrylic and Oil paints.

Jennifer studied Art at St.Edward's University and graduated with a Bachelors in Art. Over the years from moving to a smaller city she felt isolated, but has managed to explore Austin's creative subculture. She continues to study the geometry in Persian art and biology. Currently Jennifer teaches Fine Arts at Crockett High School in Austin, Tx.
